Kia Niro I – Innenraumfilter wechseln (Anleitung)

Regularly replacing the filter keeps the air in your Kia Niro I clean, ensures that the air conditioning operates efficiently, and prevents your windows from fogging up. In these instructions, you will learn how to easily replace it yourself in just a few minutes.

Quick Check

Time required approx. 5-10 minutes
Difficulty level Easy
Installation location Glove compartment
Tools No tools required
Suitable filter EDOC-1002
Airflow downward (toward the vehicle floor)
Manufacturer's interval every 30,000 km or 24 months
EV-DOC recommendation every 15,000-20,000 km or 12-18 months

Preparation

  • Vehicle safety: Make sure the vehicle is secured in Park (P), the vehicle is completely deactivated (ignition/system off), and the ventilation/air conditioning is switched off.
  • Protection & hygiene: Place a mat or cloth under the work area to catch falling dirt. Safety glasses and a respirator protect you from falling dust and pollen. It is best to have a vacuum cleaner ready to clean out the housing before installation.
  • Lighting: Since the installation area is usually dark, we recommend using a headlamp or flashlight for the best possible visibility.
  • Tools: No tools are required for the replacement.
  • Access: The filter is located in the glove compartment on the passenger side. Open it fully and empty its contents to gain clear access to the retaining pins on the sides.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Unhook glove compartment
Open the glove compartment fully. Turn the two plastic retaining pins on the inner side walls of the glove compartment counterclockwise to unscrew them, then pull them out. Slowly lower the glove compartment.
  2. Open filter housing
The filter housing is now visible horizontally behind the glove compartment. Press the clips on the right and left sides of the housing cover together and remove the cover toward the front.
  3. Remove old filter
Pull the old cabin air filter straight forward out of the compartment.
  4. Insert new filter
Carefully slide the new cabin air filter into the housing.
↔ Airflow: The arrows on the side of the filter must point downward (toward the vehicle floor)!
  5. Close housing & secure glove compartment
Put the housing cover back on until the clips audibly snap into place on both sides. Fold the glove compartment upward, reinsert the two retaining pins, and turn them clockwise to tighten them.
💡 Pro tip: If the glove compartment gets stuck when reinserting the retaining pins, gently press the compartment’s outer walls inward while inserting and tightening the pins!

Disposal Instructions

To ensure that all materials from your filter change are recycled as effectively as possible and the cycle remains closed, please dispose of them as follows:

  • Used filter
As the old filter is heavily contaminated with pollutants, fine dust and soot, it should be disposed of as general waste. Through thermal recycling in modern facilities, at least some useful energy (electricity and district heating) can still be recovered from it.
  • Shipping box
It is best to put the grass-paper box in the waste paper bin so that the fibres remain in the recycling cycle. Alternatively, you can also dispose of it on your own garden compost heap.
  • Filter bag
The plastic-free pouch for your new filter is made of paper and should also be placed in the waste paper bin.
  • Stickers & labels
You do not need to remove stickers from the cardboard before putting it in the waste paper bin – they are automatically recycled along with the paper. However, if you are composting the cardboard, please remove the labels first. Individual labels should be disposed of in the general waste due to the adhesive.
